PerTronix started almost 50 years ago as Per-Lux, a manufacturer of lighting systems for heavy duty trucks and equipment.  In the early 1970's they patented the first non points, electronic distributor system.  But they marketed it still towards trucks and large equipment.  It wasn't until the 1990s that they took a new direction and began marketing PerTronix performance products toward the racing community.  Today, PerTronix performance has sold over three million ignition systems.
