THULE HITCH RACKS:
You can carry skis and snowboards with a Thule roof rack, or with a Thule hitch bike rack with a ski attachment. Thule hitch racks easily install into your vehicle's rear receiver and are an effective alternative if you prefer a Thule Rack that does not contact the car. While the hitch rack systems are easy to load because the mount at eye level, the rack and the cargo can get dirty from the close proximity to the road. We suggest carrying skis and snowboards in a protective bag if you're planning on a long trip.
THULE ROOF RACKS:
Thule ski racks feature the ability to carry alpine or Nordic skis and snowboards. To allow for more roof space, try the Thule 575 Snowboard Carrier, which attaches to the snowboard bindings and lifts the board above the roof of your vehicle. All Thule ski racks and snowboard racks fit with a Thule load bar system or are compatible with other factory or aftermarket racks. If you have a vehicle with side rails, Thule offers a ski rack designed for 2 pairs of skis that only fits Thule load bar systems.
THULE ROOF CARGO BOX SYSTEMS:
Thule cargo boxes offer the flexibility to carry skis and snowboards on top of your vehicle and protected from the elements. As an added bonus, Thule Cargo Boxes come in a number of sizes that can fit not only your snow equipment, but your hats, gloves and boots as well. The most important factor skiers must keep in mind is the length of the Thule Cargo box - with Thule's wide selection of cargo carrier sizes, you can find the right cargo box system for the length of your skis and the size of your vehicle. Most Thule Cargo Boxes run between 65 and 76 inches (165 and 193 cm) on the outside. For more information, check out the Thule Cargo Box Systems page.
- Warning - If you use traditional or longer skis, your equipment may be too long for the Thule Cargo Box system and you may want to select a longer box style.
