Comments about MSD 8680 Adjustable Timing Control MSD 5/6/7 Ignitions:

When the MSD Timing Control works, it works great and provides 15 degrees of timing adjustment from in the car. My car does not have a choke (race carb) so I advanced the timing after starting to get a little higher rpm until it warms up then back it off a little. I also use it to fine tune the performance. Overall it is useful and handy to have this in the car. The problem is that is it unreliable. This is the 2nd one I'm buying, the first only lasted a little over a year, failing just after the warranty expired. I'm going to send it in to MSD and should cost about $60 including shipping both ways. I'll carry the repaired unit as a spare. Luckily I wired the car with terminal connectors so I was easily able to bypass the Timing Controller and run just off the MSD6+ Ignition unit. I had to readjust the timing manually. Overall I would only recommend this to experienced mechanics who can wire it so that it can be bypassed or to car guys that really need it.

I truly have nothing bad to say about MSD products. I have been using them for years and don't see myself changing to anything else. As they say, If it's working don;t fix it !!!

very easy to install, easy timing adjustment at the turn of a knob. best money i've spent so far!
