Comments about Surco BT300:

There was speculation over whether or not this would fit my 2012 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon. I called Surco and they told me it would not fit, then they emailed me back several days later saying it would after I already settled for a Yakima Sparetime. Streetside allowed me to exchange it (these guys have great cust service)
Just as every other review I've read about the BT300 states, the fine threads on the unit make it time consuming to get the bikes on and off, However, it holds the bikes very well. It only comes with one key, so I've got a couple more on order. It looks clean and functions very well. The large T bolt that connects the rack to the base has a hole on one side so it will lock to the base. Nice, but the T has to be turned 360 degrees to get to the next lockable position, so I drilled another hole on the other side of the T so I can lock at half turns. The T has no offset from the threads so when you screw it down tight it scrapes the body of the rack. I got a large rubber washer from lowes so I can get it tight without scraping it up.
The lower portion of the bike clamp is boxed in and doesn't appear to have a drain hole, so I'll be adding a couple of those too.
Surco is sending me an extension piece for larger tires for free, the extra keys are $5 a piece +shipping
Bottom line, I was teetering on building my own, so there are a few minor things I would have done differently, but this rack is solid and works very well.
